Those, who could not fly by the end of the Royal Academy could not stay in noble society, lest they brought the overall mana pool down.
Instead of mana sensing, a change in color of the wings from that of their birth season to their own occurred during puberty. Therefore, a suitable match was usually made just by comparing the size and color of their wings.
