“What? You can’t leave !” Dante exclaimed in shock.
“I can and I will. So? What are you going to do? Take my choice away again ? Then what ? Hold me prisoner in that shop of yours ? Should I call you “Master”, like Mundus ? Will you chain me to another wall, so that I can’t run away as well? ” Vergil scoffed, poison dripping from his words.
“You know what? Yeah, maybe I will. At least I’ll be sure that you won’t be going on another rampage.” Dante openly mocked him. “ You got any other kid to mangle?”
“Then let’s settle this once and for all.” The blue twin hissed.
“Fine. One last duel, but I have a condition.” Dante smirked. “If you win, I won’t interfere with your life ever again. Whatever you do, you’ll have my blessing.”
“And if I lose ?” The blue twin asked, his razor sharp focus on Dante.
“I’ll take the Yamato and you’ll become my slave. I’ll be free to do whatever I wish to you, and you won’t ever be free again.” The hunter hoped that the fear of captivity would be enough to snap him out of his rage.
“Fine.” Vergil whispered and Dante felt his blood turn cold. Shit.

Vergil, pompous, stubborn, half-man half-devil that he is, does not believe in things like love. Whether it's due to his trauma, or he just views these things as a weakness (he does) he does not bother with it. He has no room for love.
Until he meets Julia; Nero's adoptive mother, whom he's only had for a few months since Vergil & Dante left Nero behind.
Julia, in Vergil's judgmental eyes, is perfection: beautiful, smart, wise, & powerful. Powerful enough to intimidate even him. What's more, she chooses him. Admires & flirts, reads him like a book, challenges without over-stepping, even understands his annoyance of Dante (a bonus).
Vergil's demonic side agrees as well. And while it watches this beautiful & powerful woman protect & love Nero as her own, it starts screaming at Vergil to do more than watch. It wants to claim. Vergil wants this women as much as he wanted absolute power. And it terrifies him.
Let's see if this golden ball of light & love can break through Vergil's cold demeanor & loneliness, even teach him a thing or two. About love & being father.

Soon enough, Dante re-enters the office, making an unexpected return from the Underworld after three years, but strangely without Vergil. Having thought up the rough idea of putting together their own adult prom, the two devil hunting women decide that Dante’s return calls for such a celebration. With this in mind, they plan this formal event and invite the remaining Devil May Cry crew to a private venue for an unforgettable prom experience. Although Dante claims that Vergil decided to stay behind in Hell to rethink his life, what Nero doesn’t know is that Dante's planning for a proper father-son reconciliation between his brother and nephew. What Nero finds will lead to an emotional reunion and reconnection with the one person he thought he’d never know.
