In an effort to finish her latest novel, Lilith Lethe, a bestselling romance novelist with writers block, takes up her long time friend's offer to stay in the apartment above Spellbound Books. But she can't stop thinking about the amazing one night stand she had with the most aggravating girl- the one who insulted her livelihood yet inspired her now most popular villain.
“We do not like each other,” Lilith said and Sabrina snorted indelicately. “But we are rather good in bed together. You can’t deny that. I enjoy sleeping with you, Sabrina. And sleeping with you has helped me write so I propose that we continue fucking each other. Friends with benefits, if you will.”
“Except we’re not friends,” said Sabrina.
“No, we’re not,” agreed Lilith, “Enemies with benefits then.”

“Rio, Rio,” Agatha is slurring, which at first makes Rio smile, because she’s saying her name. Agatha is dreaming of her.
But then horror washes over her like a tidal wave of anguish as the spirit witch whimpers, the sound broken and laced with fear.
“Rio… no… please… not Nicky… please, not Nicky… please, he’s only six, please let him live, my love, please, give him more time…”
Rio feels Agatha calling to her through their soul bond. She arrives, hopeful that Agatha may be ready to forgive her for Nicky and reconcile. What she finds instead shatters her black heart.

Belatedly, Agatha realizes she’s nervous. She never gave Rio an answer one way or the other– not deeming the situation serious enough to unblock her number– but now she has the sudden burning fear that maybe Rio won’t be here after all and she’ll have to do this by herself.
She thinks she might throw up her coffee in the decorative, half-dead bushes lining the parking lot at the thought, but then Agatha sees her.
Leaning against the building just to the side of the front doors, face drawn in concentration beneath her sunglasses as she talks into her cell phone, her free arm crossed over her chest while her hand gesticulates in time with her words. She taps one brown loafer-clad foot against the concrete, clearly displeased with whoever she's talking to. The sunlight catches on the defined muscles of her arms, golden bronze and mouthwatering.
The moment Rio sees her she lifts the sunglasses from her face, meeting Agatha’s eyes and quickly wrapping up her conversation. She was waiting for me, Agatha realizes. Unsure what to do with that, she simply crosses the lot to meet her.
Or: The one where an estranged Agatha & Rio find themselves joining a class action lawsuit together.

Family time means a lot to the Harkness-Vidal mothers when it comes to their son, Nicky. He loves tagging along for household chores (weirdly enough), but his favorite is working on the garden his mama has made at the top of their building.
After a little rooting and planting, Nicky finds an opportunity to make flowers of his own by coloring in the ones tattooed on Rio's skin, and Agatha is reminded of just how perfect their life is.
