Summary
“Would the gentleman like to fuck a man while dressed as a girl, then?” Kaji says.
Mizu realizes, far too late, that she is goading them. They made it clear that they are not here to fuck anyone or anything, so she would like their business to be closed.
Still, they have never been good at walling off their temper. Anger is like water to them, like the blood in their veins. It can be redirected for a time, dammed, compressed, aimed with a fire hose elsewhere, but the pressure only ever builds.
(Madame Kaji talks some sense into Mizu. Not a lot of sense, but enough.)

Summary
It has been longer than Mizu cares to admit. Their revenge has taken its toll, and years have gone by. Years in London, chasing the ghosts of white men who were much more adept than Violet or Fowler at hiding.
Now, it is over, and Mizu must return to Japan, uncertain if the people they care about are even alive.

Summary
“Everyone knows who they are, deep down,” says Ringo. “We are the first person we meet, and the one we know the longest.”
Mizu figures there is no harm in being honest with the person responsible for keeping him alive.
“I have been a man, and a woman. Sometimes both are comfortable. Man, most often. But… I think I am most satisfied when I am using my sword, with an opponent, or without. I am nothing else then."
“Maybe it’s like soup.”
Mizu starts to wonder if all the medicine fumes are having a negative impact.
“Ringo. How is it like soup?”

Summary
“Thank you for granting me passage through your forest.” The words slipped like icewater from their lips, hands chilled and just as blue as the rest of their body. Gods, they missed civilizatio- ‘You’re welcome.’
Mizu had froze, blue eyes widening in terror and utter fascination as they whipped around, the voice they’d heard so close and utterly ominous that it couldn’t of been anything but a Kami.
The figure before them was small, feet and body bare in a familiarity that made their thumb itch to press the hilt of their sword upward. She stood, black hair falling around her shoulders just as they’d positioned it weeks before. Bruises around her neck, handshaped and forced from fingers larger than theirs cradled with a slowly yellowing bruise. Purple and black blossomed upward around her throat, bent at a strange angle like her neck had been broken.
That’s because it was.
