“Yeah.” Alec nodded. Maybe this wouldn’t be the first time Magnus extended an olive branch to his exes. Magnus’s always been kind and patient, even to people who didn’t deserve it, like Alec’s pathetic self. He could try to reciprocate the gesture for Magnus, too. “So, friends?”

Summary
Being the High Warlock of Brooklyn comes with many benefits but what it truly comes with is a lot responsibility.
Which means that there are times when Magnus has to maintain various identities throughout the mundane world.
Normally, this isn't a problem. However he and Alexander live busy lives and their time together after their honeymoon has been little enough that Magnus hates the thought of leaving him behind.
And Alexander proves himself again, willing and wanting to do anything as long as it means longer by Magnus' side.

“I need to go,” Alec said as he pushed himself away from the wall. “I can't– I can't be here right now. I just can't.”
“Alec–”
Alec shook his head and continued. “I don't even know why I came. I should be prepping for tomorrow anyway. I've got a fuck ton of apples to wash and pie crust to make.”
Izzy fixed Alec with a wry smile as she wrapped her arms around herself for warmth. “You're still going to make apple pie, huh?”
“Of course I am,” Alec said with a humorless laugh, like it was obvious. He tugged his jacket closed and started down the steps, turning back once he reached the sidewalk to say, “Call me if you get arrested.”
Despite being a bystander to Magnus' tumultuous relationship history and hookups for the past few years, and the heartbreak he had suffered because of it, Alec was still going to bake an apple pie for him. Because that's what you do when you're hopelessly in love with your best friend: you bake desserts that you loathe just to see him smile, even if he'll never know what they truly stand for.

Or, five times Magnus hit on Alec, and one time Alec took him up on it.
Some heavy topics so please read the tags. Alec is sober in this fic but there is discussion of drug use in the past. Domestic violence is between Magnus & Camille, and happens off screen (though you do see the aftermath). Tagged suicide attempt for a past overdose which is referenced, but not discussed in detail.

Magnus nods numbly. Sure. The future. Why not. This day really couldn’t get any more bizarre. First he finds Circle members doing business in his club, the audacity, then he bumps into Clary Fairchild of all people— all grown up now apparently, Lillith does time fly by when one’s immortal, then he gets kidnapped by some manic rainbow deity who wants him to watch the future.
He wants a drink. Maybe seven. Of the ‘so alcoholic your liver will fail just by looking at it‘ variety.‘

Magnus and Alec were dating but then Alec’s family had got in the way (Maryse and Jace particularly hated Magnus, Maryse due to her racism and bigotry and Jace because he had a misguided notion concerning Magnus and what kind of person Magnus truly is) and it lead to Alec breaking up with Magnus, thinking it is the only way to make his family happy. But Alec is miserable. A chance encounter with Magnus a year after the breakup makes Alec rethink his previous actions and starts the journey of trying to get Magnus back.
