A boy wakes up alone one day with no memories and is found by a man named Xemnas, who gives him the name Roxas, and takes him in to join this group called Organization 13. Roxas knows three things: he's a Nobody, he's Sora's Nobody, and his purpose is to help collect the hearts they need to summon Kingdom Hearts and gain their own hearts one day. He doesn't fully understand any of this, but he doesn't mind too much. Everyone in Organization 13 treats him well and he likes having a purpose.
But one day he meets someone the Organization refers to as a "puppet." Someone who was made to replicate a keyblade wielder's powers. And she makes him slowly start to realize something isn't quite right about the relationship he has with the people in the place he calls home.

And that shocks Sora for some reason. He, of course, knows the name, can’t forget the name or the name of the redheaded man. But to have to say it out loud? Here? It unnerves him. He leans to one side, and he crosses his arms in front of himself tightly, whispers, “Roxas.”
