Erkis trois-deux-six, éminente biologiste yirk, est au comble du bonheur lorsque Sous-Vysserk Sept la laisse infester la femelle humaine nommée Loren. Mais les choses tournent au vinaigre pour elle, et il lui faut faire un choix : mourir affamée ou mourir congelée.
A moins de ne pas mourir du tout ?Bien des années plus tard, Erkis se cache toujours sur Terre. Elle s'est trouvée une hôte humaine avec qui la cohabitation ne se passe pas toujours très bien mais qui l'accepte, et s'est construit une vie paisible loin de la guerre. Elle sait, cependant, que sa tranquillité ne durera pas : les siens recherchent la planète et finiront bien par la trouver tôt ou tard.
Alors qu'elle tente de renouer avec son passé, celui-ci la rattrape d'une manière brutale et inattendue, au détour d'un chantier de construction abandonné.Series
