“It can’t go on like this.” He said, his expression dark. “You’re not just sick, Elrond. You’re fading. Mordor is killing you.”
Elrond managed to smile weakly. It was something he’d suspected, but hearing it from Adar confirmed his theory. “I’m sorry.”
Adar looked at him as if he’d lost his mind. “Why are you apologizing? I insisted that you should accompany us here.”
“It’s not your fault either.” He argued softly. “And I wanted to come with you.” It was the truth, he realized that now.
“You will leave tomorrow.” Adar’s words were simple and cold. However, Elrond knew him well enough by now to know that the coldness was a mask. A way to hide his true emotions. “Return to Lindon and take as much time as you need. Get well again. In the meantime, I will make some arrangements so that you will be able to stay here without facing this again.”
Elrond hesitated. “Adar…”
The uruk grabbed his hands. “I need you to heal, Elrond.”After Sauron is defeated, Adar proposes an alliance between elves and uruks. He marries Elrond and they go to Mordor. Only that elves can't last long in the poisoned land. So Adar sends him away, only for Elrond to run into trouble with the dwarves. ELROND x ADAR

They were well and truly drenched now, head to toe covered in water. His curly hair clung to his face as Galadriel’s long golden locks clung to her face, her neck, her shoulders and her arms. But the grin on her face told him that it was worth it.
As Elrond stood, he helped her to her feet and they strolled out of the water slowly, taking another seat on the sand to dry off in the setting sun.
“What ship do you sail on?” Elrond asked.
“Mother calls it Titanic. A ship of dreams.” Galadriel replied stiffly.
A journey from Valinor to Middle-Earth on the most luxurious ship ever built to sail offers Galadriel and Elrond a chance for new dreams. But the two friends face a number of obstacles as they struggle to be together. Galadriel feels trapped by her parents expectations to marry someone from a similar background whilst Elrond struggles with the hidden love he feels for his friend.
Everything changes when they journey together on Titanic.

Camnir, trembling, shoulders hunched like a spooked rabbit, looked up at him. Then at the dead rat. Then back at Elrond, eyes wide with desperate hope.
Elrond opened his mouth. Closed it. Glanced at the rat again, suspiciously dry, suspiciously stiff, like some grim trophy, plopped there with way too much pride.
No. No, this surely was not what Gil-galad had intended when he’d been told to “deliver these records to Lord Celebrimbor and assist with any mapping.”

Or, in an alternate timeline from ROP, Elrond and Galadriel are sent to Khazad-dum to sign a treaty between Gil-galad and Durin III - and to attend the wedding of Prince Durin and Disa. Galadriel wants dwarvish-style braids as a sign of respect, but while braiding her hair, Elrond's thoughts focus more on his romantic feelings.

For they did not seem so terrible to Elrond; one was tall and covered with scars, and his eyes were hollow with some distant sorrow, and yet sometimes he still smiled. The other was gentle, though when they first saw him he held a bloodstained sword in his hand. The other ached to sing.
