      This is one of my favorite fics I have ever read. I’m obsessed with this AU and the thought put behind all the relationships.

      No Steve/Tony or even pre-Steve/Tony even though it’s tagged.

      I fucking didn’t see the Parker twist coming even knowing their names were Richard and Mary. 😭😭😭 I had to pause in reading because knowing what happens to the Parkers in cannon and how much Tony loves Mary literally made me start crying…Then Tony and Hal leaving Pete with May and Ben a handful of chapters later just breaks you all over again.

      “‘I’ve just- I’ve just got to get the voice right first…’”/“‘No, this isn’t- this isn't him, it’s a- he’s mine. I made him, I keep him.’ … ‘, please,’ Tony hiccuped, he hadn't let go of the keyboard. ‘Let me keep him.’” — Holy shit, I didn’t expect these flashbacks to break me so much but seeing this after how doting the real Jarvis was the lead up fucking broke me.

      Uncle Danny being the first person Tony comes out to is the sweetest fucking thing.

      “[Ana]’d made peace with never having a child with Edwin, his love more than enough for her, but there was sometimes a part of her that still ached at their loss. It seemed both louder and quieter with Tony in her arms.”

      “…he was beginning to understand that he had not been a true friend to anyone in this century. Demanded honesty, and kept secrets to himself. Yelled to be heard, and listened to no one. Asked for respect, and offered little in return. Inspired trust, and given none. Called them up to have his back, and left them hanging when they’d needed him (break out or not, he’d left them, he always left them).” —This is a realization I wish MCU Steve had had.

      “[Tony] had the self-preservation instincts of a mayfly and the loyalty of an imprinted duckling.”

      I love the idea of Tony sending Nat away. Of him trusting her to understand, of being one of two people(and Pepper was the second one!!! The two redheads who came after Ana) he trusted the world to. And I love Nat’s protectiveness of Tony, the way she didn’t hesitate to launch herself at Steve when she found out what happened.

      “…Tony had a way of crawling into your heart in an endearingly possessive way - and a way of taking a bullet meant for you from a gun of his own making.”

      The progression of Peggy’s Alzheimer’s was beautifully done in this—the way it was shown through small actions and conversations instead of told in dramatics.

      I love the parallel of Howard wanting to give up weapons after seeing the destruction of the Manhattan Project (but being influenced by Obi to not see a way forward that didn’t harm everyone in his company). And I LOVE that Maria saw through Obi’s bullshit and that she trusted him about as far as she could throw him.
