Even in hiding from Voldemort, and with a baby of his own to take care of, he couldn't let his own blood alone, so he took his nephew in, and loved him as much as he loved his own son.
But after James and Lily's deaths, baby Harry and his older cousin were separated, one sent to live with Lily's Muggle sister and the other one to live with a magical family.
Years later, it's time for James' nephew to return the favor. He might be barely out of Hogwarts, but Kenneth Potter isn't going to let his cousin live one more day with those muggles.
