“Well, good!” Callie juts one finger toward Acht as though she were holding a microphone, and… Acht thinks she just winked at them? If she did, however, Callie seems to have forgotten she’s wearing an eyepatch on the left side. “I don’t want to hear any lingering doubts. We’re having fun tonight!”
Callie pulls back to center, a sunshine smile plastered to her face. She takes a moment to tuck her pigtails back behind dorsal fin ears and readjusts her silky scarlet bandana higher up her forehead.
“Right,” Acht snorts, their scratchy voice more gnarled as their tone drops. “Because going back underground is my idea of a good time.”
“But this time, it’s to party!”

As Marina continues to work on the Memverse, she gathers more of the Sanitized Octolings and their Memcakes from the bowels of Kamabo Corp. With its Commander gone, and more of its dark reaches opening to her, there's no way there's something hiding in the rafters right?
Well of course it wouldn't be hiding in the rafters, but instead in the deepest and darkest bowels of the metro. A mission imperative is triggered, and Kamabo Corp whirls to life one last time. One more secret, One more face, and the body it's gonna use to walk and talk with everyone.
After all, the memcake technology had to come from SOMEWHERE right? Why in the world would Kamabo Corp be researching such a thing in the first place?

This is the story of a human, one of the last, trying to find his way out of his icy tomb in a concrete mausoleum and to... even an iota of normal life again.

Former Agent 8 of the Newsquidbeak Splatoon finds herself in Splatville, having moved there after the Order Incident in Inkopolis Square. She's finally adjusting to a more peaceful lifestyle, as peaceful as one can be in a society that monetizes war, and can finally use the name she gave herself while traveling with Pearl and Marina. She's glad to, the label "agent" reminds her of the trouble she's gotten into before and after she was bestowed the title. But of course, she can not avoid trouble, it has a habit of finding her, and this time it's followed her from her old work and into new life. She doesn't fully remember the past, but she'll have to remember it if she wants her future to be as peaceful as she wants.

Maybe it was her demeanor around others. Or maybe it was the look agent 3 gave four when they first met. The look that sang many songs of distrust and disappointment. And yet, this was who she was meant to live up to? To be the successor of? With an aura so dark, the night sky could be put to shame? It felt pitiful. This was not what Agent 4 wanted. She wouldn’t be able to live with herself if she was. And, if she could help it, she would avoid it at all costs.
