When they'd first moved into their current apartment, Peter was 4. He enjoyed playing around with things he probably shouldn't, and broke one of his mother's lamps. He was always careful around things after that, but soon enough he'd broken his own things more than once, and replacing them got too costly. He had bins for his toys, and a table for colouring and playing, but no more decorations. No superhero bedsheets, posters, or fancy lamps. The only decoration in his room was about a dozen glow-in-the-dark star stickers.

He promised to cherish those stars forever because they were the one thing he couldn't ruin.
(Alternatively: Peter Parker learns to live despite everything around him falling apart. Maybe in the wreck of it all, he'll find a family again.)

“I mean, kinda rude, don’cha think?” Peter asks before he can stop himself.
Tony’s eyes don’t even tear away from the tablet.
“I dunno about rude, he just doesn’t have much of a gimmick otherwise. Maybe Bodega Man? Or Sandwich Savior? People really don’t put that much thought into it, Petey-poo, they just kind of throw two words together half the time and go from there.”

.Peter’s quivering, but he’s cooperative, having recognized Bucky now. Bucky can see it in his eyes, just like he can see that he’s very understandably weary, nodding with a certain jerkiness that tells Bucky that he’s unsure if he’s going to kill him now.
“I’m not,” he says, removing his hand from Parker’s mouth.
“Not what?” asks the boy, fear in his tone as he maintains eye contact with Bucky.
“I’m not going to kill you,” he elaborates for him, “I’m not interested.”
It does nothing to relax him.
“Then why drag me into an alley?”
“Well, how else would you have liked me to get you for a conversation? Invite you out for coffee?”
