Doug grimaces and looks away. Gareth feels a little bad. Doug's always been the most private out of the four of them. Takes pride in no one reading his mood.
No one except him; a shameful part of him preens.
Doug shrugs. "I'm fine. Just... hungry is all."
"Hungry? But you've been like this for at least a week..." Gareth chews his lips. "Wait can you not afford food man?"
"No. No. Not... that kind of hungry," Doug mutters, the flush deepening. He pivots impossibly fast, and suddenly he's behind Gareth. "I gotta go. See you at practice!" Then he's gone.
Gareth spends the rest of the day trying to convince himself that he just imagined the red glow in Doug's eyes.

As an excuse to see him as often as possible, Eddie starts going to the shop for things he could easily fix at home, and gets a second shock when he finds out that Steve is openly bi.

Eddie had ‘Fuel’ by Metallica blasting loud enough to disturb a quiet neighborhood while he sped down a main street. Recklessly, yet skillfully, he swerved between cars, going well above the speed limit. He was drumming on the steering wheel of a black 1970s Pantera in tune with the music. The chorus of the song came in and Eddie shouted along with it. “Give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desi—” he choked on the last word and nearly slammed on his breaks. For half a second, he saw the nicest ass he’d ever laid eyes on, scantily clad in torn denim. Without a second thought, he turned the car around and drove the wrong way down the road in order to pull into a gas station beside, what he now could see, was a repair shop.

Gareth has had just about enough of Steve Harrington in the fall of '86. He sets about to do something about it. It takes an angry mob, a Corroded Coffin gig and a baseball bat full of nails for him to change his mind.
Gareth gets mad, Eddie gets beat up, Steve gets violent and Wayne is just really tired of everyone's shit.
