When Peter is at the library looking out for some books, he runs into a teenager. The teens name is Steven but he told Peter to call him Skip. Peter and Skip ended up becoming friends, which Ben and May found suspicious at first but eventually they both agreed to let Peter and Skip hang at the library once in a while. Soon Skip ends up watching Peter on occasion, that leads to Tony and Stephen getting concerned when they stop coming over to babysit Peter.
Everything slowly comes together once Peter unknowingly tells some concerning news of what Skip has done to him.Read at your own risk, I don’t know how to do these scenes so they won’t be graphic or anything but still.
And as I always say, this is a part of a series, I recommend reading the others first.

Ben feels like he needs to choose his words carefully. He doesn’t want to be the one to make things worse, but he keeps trying to remind himself that things are just off today. And the only one who can really fix it isn’t here right now. And that’s the whole damn thing.
“What do you wanna do today, baby?” Ben asks, patting his back and walking around him so he can start taking the dishes he’s washed off and put them in the machine. “Anything special? We can keep it lowkey, we don’t have to do anything crazy—whatever you wanna do.”
Is leaving it up to him too much pressure? Shit.
Peter purses his lips and hands Ben one of the plates. “Um,” he says, squeezing the sponge out til his hand is all soapy. “Um. I saw the party hats. The galaxy ones in the pantry.”
Ben clears his throat.

“Got it,” Peter says. The calendar is at Peter level, and Ben has a horrifying thought of moving it up and up and up, as Peter grows older and taller without his father.
Nope. Not gonna happen. No way, no way. Thought banished.
Peter marks off the day with one steady, red line. August 5th done and in the books with just dinner to go, and he’s got that look on his face where Ben can’t tell what he’s thinking. He puts the cap back on the sharpie and purses his lips for a second.
“One day closer to Daddy,” he says, voice resolute.
“That’s right,” Ben says, happy with that attitude, because both of them could easily be thinking another day without him. But they don’t say that, and Ben sees Peter eyeing the tenth. His birthday.
