The day Tom Marvolo Riddle was elected president changed the course of history.
In his speech, he announced the creation of Hallow – a New Country that, based on traditional values, would be the salvation of civilization. A place that is self-sufficient. Regulus always knew he wanted to be a cook. Or at least, he thought he knew, before the voice in his head that sounded much like his mother’s and father’s started to give way to a much fainter, and meeker voice, that said, maybe this is not exactly what you want.
Regulus had allowed himself to hear that voice out for once in his life, as he smoked his cigarette on the pavement, and then later, as he was getting the reprimand of his life from Riddle for leaving the kitchen in a rage, and not because he was overly rude to the apprentice.
He had heard the voice out, and in a moment of impulsiveness more befitting of his brother, Regulus had said,
“I quit.”
So it was that impulsivity that had left him with nothing but his ripped coat and his last ever paycheck. So yeah, Regulus’s day had started like shit, and it had ended the same way.
