Summary
Slate frantically ran up the stairs towards the observatory, looking around.
“Mica?” Mica was also just as shaken.
“Slate? What was that?”
“I don’t-”
But they cut themselves off as they heard something… almost like whispering at first. But it was getting louder, and Slate realized it sounded like whooshing air.
And what was that bright, blue light?
And why was it getting hotter all of a sudden?
Slate suddenly gasped as a roar washed over them. They frantically looked around them, seeing that the sky was too bright. Impossibly so. It lit up the entire night sky so much that they couldn't see the stars anymore.
But then, it was gone.
Slate stared in confusion and terror at the sky for a few seconds, as if they were waiting for the strange light to return, before they tilted their head back down and looked around frantically.

Summary
You don't know what it is—a detailed hallucination, a trick of the mind, or one last gift from the Eye of the universe in recognition of your years of steadfast dedication to finding the answer. Infinite life condensed into a moment: twenty-two minutes to save the universe. In the end, you led yourself and everyone you loved to their final resting place. A universe contained within the space of an atom, an explosion as bright as a supernova.
And then you woke up.

Summary
Azurite had a rather complicated relationship with music. All the astronauts in Outer Wilds Ventures played one, and they used it to communicate their current being. Yet all they got was this lyre that they're trying to come to terms with. It never felt like their own. However, there might be an instrument they enjoyed more.
But with all the memories they made with the others, it'd be far-fetched to say they didn't like music.

Summary
I'm not being fair, it'd be better if I sat down and took a deep breath before...
"No, it's over for you, Gabbro. Because you can't bother getting up and doing anything at all. Because you're just sitting here on your little island doing nothing while I go through all the most painful experiences you could ever imagine all by myself."
... I say something really stupid.
"Because I have two mass extinctions on my mind day and night, while you're just sitting here twiddling your thumbs."
Yikes.
Gabbro takes what you said in, you can tell. It was eerily silent then, cyclones whistling and thunder roaring, sure, but it still felt like it was dead quiet.
"Hey, you want some sap wine by any chance. I've got some down there somewhere..." they suggest after a while.
"I hate sap wine." You say in a sort of deadpan voice.
"Okay, but I don't, so, do you mind?" They stretch their hand out.

It's nice to have company drop in here on Brittle Hollow, Riebeck is not going to deny that, but there is something... off, about the newest of the Outer Wilds recruits. Not weird, not scary, but worrying. Riebeck's starting to think the hatchling might need help, and they don't know what to do about it.

Here at the end of the universe, they refuse to let that last spark of hope die like the last embers of a campfire. They find themselves in a place of pure potential, where seemingly anything can happen. So the universe's last fool starts trying to make the impossible, possible.

Summary
“Hatchling, can you hear me? How is your oxygen?” They asked, lifting them up a bit to check their tank. They rushed and grabbed their own tank and repair kit. “Not the best.” Responded hatchling, who immediately coughed. “Alright, okay, um…” said Riebeck, kneeling down next to Hatchling and nervously trying to remember their training. What do you do with a suit puncture, Riebeck?

Summary
In which Riebeck sees many things and suffers terrible trauma.
And Aréte gets the mother of all headaches.
This is based on an absolutely terrifying/hilarious/traumatizing experience I had while streaming modded VR Outer Wilds last night with Spitzle and CatCrazies. It turns out that flying is a LOT harder in VR, especially with a jetpack, and Brittle Hollow is very disorienting when your vision literally warps around you.
It's also kind of inspired by @PoisonHemloc's "Banjo Music stops" fic.
(Riebeck and Aréte are best firends in my fanon-they love archeaology, the both of them!)

Summary
“Come on, get up. We’re going together.”
Riebeck’s fingers falter on their instrument. A note bends in the melody. “Uh, sorry? I don’t, you want me to…?”
You lift your gaze up. The bridge is practically framing their spherical helmet, almost mockingly close. Nothing shaken loose yet.
“The Hanging City,” you say. “You always wanted to see it, right? So we’re going. Right now.”
