Summary
Mara didn't mean to kill the god of death. She just wanted to slow him down, but intentions didn’t matter when she ended up causing cosmic chaos. Now the underworld is in disarray—souls are escaping, ghouls are raiding, and the dead might start evicting the living. Mara's got enemies everywhere, including ancient beings who’d love to personally drag her to the afterlife.
To fix things, Mara gathers a team of misfits. There's Rust—a steam-powered automaton with the soul of a serial killer. Captain Leela, a drunken sky-pirate whose loyalty is always for sale, pilots their ship, and Bas, an enigma with too many secrets and a helpful yet unnerving vibe, rounds out the crew.
Their mission? Replace the god of death before things get worse. Along the way, they face vengeful ghosts, rogue necromancers, and gods who aren’t supposed to die—but make an exception for Mara. And then there's a cult worshipping something far worse.
Mara’s a master at lying her way out of trouble, but with the fate of life and death on her shoulders, she might be in over her head. With her questionable allies, she’s determined to fix her mistake—or at least enough to stop everyone from trying to kill her.
