Alexis hummed, taking a slow step forward, closing some of the space between them. “I wonder,” She mused, “Does he even know how tightly you cling to him? How much you fear losing him?” Her lips curved into something resembling a smirk. “Do you?”
Sam’s breathing grew heavier. “You don’t know shit.”
“Oh, but I do.” Her voice was soft, almost a whisper, but the malice laced through it was unmistakable. “You think protecting him from me makes him safe? How naive. You can’t shield him from everything, Sam. And from what I’ve seen, he doesn’t need you to.” She took another step forward, her voice lowering. “But you? You need him, don’t you?”
Sam’s fingers twitched. His nails dug into his palm. He needed to walk away, to get out of here before-
Then she smirked, and said, “You should be grateful, you know. I was the best thing that ever happened to you.”
And just like that, something in Sam snapped.

Hi hello, this is my version of the Quinn Arc because my favorite hobby is turning irredeemable baddies into misunderstood antiheroes thank you much. Quinn's arc in Darlin'/Tank's life felt like it got wrapped up too quickly so I've decided that it doesn't end with the interrogation and trial. You'll see what I mean.
If you think Quinn is absolutely irredeemable (and in canon he is, don't get me wrong), please don't read this summary and then feel the need to argue with me. This is fanfiction. It's not that serious. If you don't like the idea of Quinn being redeemed, move on. No one's forcing you to read this (hopefully), and I'm not making any effort to romanticize what Quinn did anyway.
