Jack was 17 when he met his soulmate, Davey Jacobs, who filled his vision and life with unfathomable colors. Jack was 33 when Davey died and he felt the loss in everything he did, everywhere he looked. It’s been almost a year and a half since the accident and Jack’s gray and grief-stricken life has only been held together by the deep-rooted community he and his late husband built in their years together. But Jack isn’t sure that he’ll ever be able to want to live as much as everyone else wants him to, as much as he knows Davey would want him to. So he promises to try, even if trying is just going through the boxes of Davey’s things. Even if those boxes threaten to make him relive the darkest, loneliest time of his life and unravel his precariously balanced composure.

Summary
Jack and the other Newsies leave the Refuge, an orphanage with an abusive history, to enroll in a local boarding school in Manhattan. There, Jack meets a boy named Davey, whom he develops romantic feelings for, though he doubts the boy likes him back. Davey develops a crush on Jack, too, but is also unsure if the feeling is mutual. At the Manhattan Boarding School, the Newsies face all sorts of new challenges ranging from self-discovery to blooming romance to the typical struggles of academic life. Some trouble arises when the boys meet the Delancey brothers, the biggest bullies at the school. Witness the Newsies' progress through love, conflict, and curricular life.

“Because I’m one of them!” Davey snapped.
He clapped his hand to his mouth. All the anger that filled his skull seeped out in an instant. In its place came fear. Icy cold as the gravity of what he had said struck him. His mother stared at him with something between shock and hurt.
She looked up at Mayer with teary eyes. “Our son’s a faggot. How… what did we do wrong?” She cried into Mayer’s arms.
“Leave. Now.” Mayer gritted. The words were final, leaving no room for rebuttal. Not that Davey had any. He could not stand being in the restaurant any longer than he had to.

Summary
A tragedy occurs in the Jacobs family, preventing David and Sarah from getting into college. As much as Davey adores his family, he can't stand the feeling of guilt anymore and packs up his life to move to a small but lively village in the English countryside. Jack Kelly, who had no interest of attending college, spontaneously follows him out of the country, accidentally forcing his friend, Antonio, into it. The three of them eventually make themselves at home. Soon they notice strange things happening in the town, and are curious to investigate.
This is inspired Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series of books.

“Tired, huh?” Jack asked, motioning towards how Davey was resting his weight into him. “I feel ya, Dave. I think I could rest ten moons away and still feel tired.” Jack smiled a crooked, loopy grin at him.
It was decided, then. Why would Davey burden him with the knowledge of his injury? Jack would surely worry about him, tell him to go home. That would just mount more stress on his shoulders.

Jack and David live in different worlds. Frat parties and gay bars, chapter meetings and drag queens, beer pong and passenger-seat weed- they're a match doomed to fail, and they're waiting for the wreckage.
But maybe they're more similar than they seem. Maybe they just need some time to figure it out.
