The feelings of melancholy don’t fade and make Crybaby feel like curling up into a ball and sleeping forever. He thinks about the remorseful tone that was carried in the other’s voice and it dawns on him that he’s not the only one who’s going to suffer in their shared situation. As bad as Crybaby feels must only be amplified for the other who has to carry on long after Crybaby has met his end.
“It must be lonely,” Crybaby says, opening his eyes to see a pair of legs in front of him. He doesn’t dare look up from the spot where his eyes are fixated because he’s afraid of what he’ll see.
