Summary
Perhaps if Aang tried hard enough, he could think of it as a new source of energy for the world, a new beacon of hope and as a sacrifice that would remind even the Fire Nation that love was selfless and unafraid.
Yue was lost now.
But, Aang supposed, they had gained Zuko.
Or, the story of how Sokka learns that perhaps love and hate are two sides of the same coin-----

Summary
“Sokka pulls out the big guns–the ever-bewitching puppy dog eyes–but Zuko’s reaction to that tactic has shifted over time, and as his face draws closer to Sokka’s, as Zuko’s gaze intensifies on the soft, dramatic pout of his husband’s lips, Sokka finds that his own expression, still touched by melancholy at Izumi’s departure, is now slipping quickly into an expectant smile.”
Izumi is going to her first sleepover, and Sokka and Zuko have the house to themselves for the night. There’s just a touch of nostalgia-anxiety to work through before they can get to the good part.

Summary
“Hey!” Sokka yelps, breaking away from Aang so that he can untangle the dragon from his hair. “Your son is trying to give me a haircut,” he says to Zuko, smirking when Zuko can’t respond with his usual 'he’s your son too, Sokka'.
“Give him here,” Zuko mumbles instead, holding out his hand. Sokka passes Druk off easily, raising an eyebrow when he realises that their friends are staring at them in awe. (Except for Toph, of course, who looks supremely uninterested in the whole ordeal.)
“He likes you?” Aang asks incredulously, his eyes just about popping out of his head. “That’s so unfair! I helped the Sun Warriors give him to Zuko, and he doesn’t like me!”
“It’s just ‘cause I’m here more than you are,” Sokka says, walking towards Toph and obligingly accepting his shoulder punch. “Maybe you shouldn’t spend so much time off saving the world if you want Druk to like you better.”
---
Or, during a visit to the Fire Nation, Aang realises that Druk likes Sokka more than him. He sets out to remedy this, and maybe-possibly-accidentally uncovers a few secrets along the way (but not without Toph's help, of course).

Summary
Sokka is visiting at the Fire Nation Palace and Zuko keeps disappearing at sunset for an hour. Sokka is curious and catches him meditating by the turtleduck pond. During the following week, Zuko keeps coming to bed happier and more excited, until he finally says he wants to show Sokka something.
OR,
Sokka thinks he sees Zuko meditating by the turtleduck pond, but it's actually much more adorable than that.

Having grown up in a very homophobic society, and finally coming to terms with his own sexuality through his relationship with Sokka, Zuko decides that it is finally time to let his uncle in on this very important aspect of his life, no matter how nervous he is of his reaction. He just hopes that his uncle will still love him.

Summary
After helping him rescue his Father and (ex?) girlfriend from the Boiling Rock prison, Zuko has earned Sokka's trust and they have become fast friends (maybe more?). As the two grow closer, they share stories about their past, and their feelings grow. Sokka isn't sure what to do with these feelings, and he certainly isn't prepared for the anger he feels upon learning how Zuko got his scar.
Hakoda overhears Zuko tell Sokka the story of his scar, and takes it upon himself to help Zuko see his own worth, while also being Sokka's wingman.

Summary
“What the fuck are you doing?” Katara says, one hand on her hip as she opens the door to Sokka’s room.
The boy is sitting on his bed, a cup of microwave stir fry noodles in his hand as he hits the cup with a spoon. He looks up, his hair down and tangled, with deep bags under his eyes. “Eating.”
