Summary
Alternate and more mature-rated take on a scene in the Dark Winged Queen Arc from the (2023 - Present) Titans (Tom Taylor’s run) comics. This takes place during Titans: Volume 2 or more specifically issue #15 of that run. It starts off pretty similar to how that scene goes in the comics, but devolves into more of my headcanon as it plays out. I really loved that scene, but because it’s not in a bbrae-focused comic, I felt like there was so much more left unsaid in their conversation due to space/time. Therefore, this is how I wish the rest of that scene played out. If you are not familiar with the storyline, this one-shot begins with a quick synopsis in the notes to catch you up on what’s going on in the continuity. If you’re familiar with the comic, you can just pick up after the synopsis.
I just needed this written down. That scene deserved more.

Life has never been safe for a Borrower in a world governed by humans. Shen Qingqiu and Tomioka Giyuu have been dropped into the Slay the Princess universe. At first, they're confused and target the protagonist of the universe, assuming that he was attacking a woman already locked away in the basement, but as time goes on and loops repeat, they realize that the princess is not what she seems
The Long Quiet and the voices in his head are confused on why slaying the princess is more complicated than the narrator lets on.
(10.02.25: Currently on hiatus until I figure out how to balance 3 AP classes AND this fanwork while one class isn’t even teaching. Should be back, though 👍👍)

Summary
The Wild and the Apotheosis are two of the strongest vessels, they can break the construct. When the Shifting Mound is a bit late on retrieving her gift of a Tender Heart, the Nightmare grows to receive this strength, too.
But all she knows is how to hurt…
And so she does. She breaks the Long Quiet. Not mentally, or spiritually, or even just his will. She breaks him in a terrible, pragmatic way.
Like the Sleeping Mound, they can hope to rebuild him from the Paranoid voice that survives. Together, the Paranoid and the Nightmare must bring Voices to the Long Quiet, and Vessels to the Shifting Mound.
Hilarity ensues.
