The question left the group silent in thought.
“In what way?” Mike countered.
“In the way that… people have a destiny. Or are meant to do certain things, or meet certain people. Like us.” Stan paused, letting the wind hug around him. “I mean, we’ve been through some crazy shit. And why us? Out of anyone in the world, why were a bunch of thirteen and fourteen-year olds the ones who had to go through that? Is that the only reason we’re even here, to have fought that dumb clown, and now the rest of our lives are meaningless? Are we friends because we had to be?”
