Summary
Light Yagami masked himself to be a perfect model of various archetypes. The perfect student, the perfect son, the perfect friend, the perfect boyfriend. It was as though he refused to let a single flaw slip through him, as though being human was something wrong to be, replacing chances for mistakes with satisfactory yet saccharine ‘outcomes.’
The moment L enters Light Yagami’s world in person, Light conjures up the perfect plan: to pretend flirt with L and romance him into giving up his real name. L sees right through him, but pretends to go along with Light’s advances in hopes of eventually unmasking him to be Kira.
They form a fake relationship, and it becomes a delicate game to see who makes the mistake of slipping first. But when Light loses his memories while in confinement, the line quickly blurs between what’s real and what’s not.
