The world was dying.

Seladon, the last Gran-Maudra, a young vapra, was one of the few of her kind. She and a few members of the failed resistance were setting up camp in a clearing in the Dark Forest when they were attacked in the dead of night.
Running to try to save her life, the woman came face to face with death and her last hopes left her body. Summary
SkekTek's experiments on the Crystal of Truth go awry. Rather than learning about essence, the skeksis find themselves having to deal with an entirely new problem, completely separate from aging and eventually dying. Inconveniently, the problem requires all else be put on hold until it gets solved.
Issue 1: This will require a certain degree of teamwork, which isn't something skeksis are known for.
Issue 2: There are other forces at work, which are neither benevolent nor nonviolent. Dying of old age may soon be the least of their worries. -
