Summary
Diluc and Kaeya had been working all day with no end in sight. Diluc was swamped with work neither Varka nor Eroch wanted to do, so Kaeya decided to help him. If they didn't finish in time, Crepus would be angry that they weren't home before curfew. Diluc didn't like making him angry.
Thankfully, Crepus wrote to them telling the two he was heading out to Liyue for business, meaning they technically had no curfew. After writing to Adelinde, they finish their work and Kaeya is ready to head home, but Diluc, with a wine bottle stolen from the cellar, has other plans for the two that night.

Wherever Diluc went, Kaeya was sure to follow. If Diluc was sad, Kaeya would make him smile. When Diluc dragged Kaeya along with his mischievous plans, Kaeya would accompany him without question. If they got caught, Kaeya would happily serve the punishment without complaint.
Diluc was his other half, the light in his otherwise dark and convoluted existence. They knew each other's thoughts and intentions without needing to share a word. What they had between them was almost surreal.

Diluc always opposed Eroch no matter what.Whether in meetings or interviews for job positions, he always disagreed with what the Inspector had to say and was always right. It made Eroch furious that a 16-year-old was blatantly disrespecting and humiliating him. Then, the teen started getting into his affairs. He warned him to stay out of his business, but Diluc didn't listen and went further, threatening to tell Varka.
Instead of making up a reason to fire him, he tried to get rid of him entirely by sending him on a dangerous mission, hoping he wouldn't return.

Glancing around the darkened street, Diluc emerged from his hiding place to head over to the meeting spot, looking over the stone railing to see his brother down below. Bracing his hands upon it, he jumped up and swung his legs over. The soft thud of his landing alerted Kaeya to his presence, the younger boy turning around to look him over.
“There you are. Thought you weren’t going to show up,” Kaeya jested, walking over to his brother, “I would have thought you’re playing a hero with that entrance.”
“You would say something like that,” the teen replied while lightly shaking his head. He couldn’t seem to stop himself from looking around, making sure that the scarce city streets stayed that way for them. Bringing his hand up to brush his bangs out of his eyes, he motioned for them to start moving, “It’s almost time to meet.”
