Thumb traces the temporary intricate navy designs across the backs of her fingers.
Sniffling, Lorelei grips the sashes on her husband’s pants with her unoccupied hand. ‘You’re right. You’re right.’ Untucking her face, she nods. Calloused hands cup her wet cheeks, Tighnari’s soft lips press against her nose. ‘I’m sorry. I was mean.’ The thrumming of anxiety and restlessness has surfaced for the first time in years, and each parent can’t grasp how to process it. It’s like these three years of peace have pulled the wool over their eyes. She thought Dahlia’s situation was a fluke, now she thinks it was the beginning of an omen.

For the grand sage to accept her parents marriage and by extension, leave the arts alone. Though, of course, being the first female General Mahamatra has its perks, respect isn’t always guaranteed.
