A gradient of dark blue and pink is washed over the stage, deepening the shadows on his face. His hair is fucking perfect. Not a single flyaway or split end in sight. Lark wants to hate him but can’t quite bring himself to it.
“You know,” the man drawls into his microphone, “a little ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ can go a long way.” He pauses for effect. “It might even make you likable.”
Okay, maybe Lark can in fact bring himself to hate him.

The punk scene in all likelihood saved Lark's life; for a while, he was miserable in all the right ways. But reading Kropotkin and doing drugs never actually fixed anything. The only fulfilling part of his life is his job as a sound tech at a local club.
Sadly, sometimes that means he has to deal with asshole musicians who think they're hot shit.

Fate really had a twisted sense of humor when it came to a one Glenn Close. He was getting used to being its mangled punching bag, getting his teeth knocked out then standing up, giving it a thumbs up and saying ‘It’s alright, I deserved that one.’ Sure it was exhausting, but if he was oblivious and thought he didn't deserve any of it, he’d be focusing way too much on life’s unfair trials over actually having a life.
There are a lot of shit things that have happened to Glenn, between the chronic illness, the divorced parents, hateful mother, absent father, dead wife, etc. But really, the hardest thing he’s ever had to face is Nicholas Close’s sad puppy eyes. Glenn loves his son, has never been ashamed of that, and it’s really only more noticeable when Nick is able to bend him at his will. Glenn has never claimed to have will power, and Nick does get his charm from his Dad.

Nick sighs. “I mean, not only are you going to a resort across the country with a girl you just met, but also seven strangers- what the fuck are you thinking Nicky?” She scolds him like a mother. Well, she’s the closest thing he has to a mother, so he guesses it makes sense.

So many different rules, so many bruises and days without food, arguments and drugs, alcohol and hands where they’re not supposed to be. Nicky was usually the one to take the reins on days like this, being sent to a new foster home. They had been placed in one before for a few weeks until one who was semi-permanent opened up, and because the group home in San Dimas was full, they had no other choice but to shove him at any random foster parent who would take them. Mrs. Dell was a bitch. Is what Nick said, mumbling beneath his breath while he paced their mind. Nicky tended to tune Nick and Nicholas out when he was in control, because they always somehow devolved into an argument that would make the migraines worse.
