Based off of the fact I thought these were the five emotions in Inside Out (what the hell is Disgust doing there??) and Theo's insane take in "Triggered" on people only feeling one emotion at a time. No, no, bro- that's just you. You are emotionally stunted.
So then I thought of Theo as a kid who didn't know how to understand and process emotions, and this behemoth was born.

“Actually, you know what? Maybe it does track, because you barely knew what was going on with your own kids when we were under the same roof!”
Because that’s something that has been killing Theo since the very moment he was taken by the Doctors. They found him a few months before that night in the creek and they kept finding him over and over again until they finally managed to get inside his head, making him believe that his big sister wanted him to have her heart.
Theo had his childhood ripped away from him right in front of his parents and they didn’t even know it, they didn’t even notice it, because they simply didn’t care about him.
“Maybe you never gave up hope… you sure as hell gave up on her.” Theo says, harshly wiping away the tear that escapes his eye. He doesn’t focus on a pained sob that breaks out of Tara’s throat as she frees herself from their mother’s hold. “You gave up on both of us.”
(or, a universe, where Theo's and Tara's parents move back in Beacon Hills and during a small reunion, Theo learns a family secret related to him and the reason why he was even born in the first place.)
