Summary
When word from the Franklin Expedition is not heard by January of 1848, Sir John Barrow approves a single expedition, consisting of sixty-four men, on a single ship; HMS Edinburgh. The same class as HMS Terror; she is heavy, slow, and terrible for the Arctic.
Commanded by a well-meaning incompetent who has never held an active command, chosen purely because of convenience, the expedition meets some of the same horrors that met Franklin and seems destined to suffer the same fate as the expedition they were meant to rescue. Can the crew find Franklin and save themselves at the same time?
Mostly original characters. I will not be including Tuunbaq and most of the details of The Terror will be omitted for the more likely real version of what happened to the men. Regardless, It will be similar to The Terror in atmosphere (hopefully) and include the personality of the characters I do include, so I hope you enjoy.

When they came to the sickbay, a skinny young boy stood with his back to Francis. “David?” Francis hedged, and the man turned. Before he could even realise what he was doing, Francis recoiled.
Where the boy’s eyes had once been, there were only buttons. Black buttons sewn down tight.
“Can you…see?” The question was out of Francis’ mouth before he could stop it. David smiled, his mouth twisting unnaturally wide, his teeth unnaturally sharp.
“I can see, sir. I can see more than ever before.”

Evans recognised him immediately, by his shape in the shadows, by the exact height difference between himself and the man catching him. Strong, who lived up to his name, sturdy, kind, and handsome William Strong.
Of course it would be him. He’d been protector and mentor to the ship’s boys ever since they came aboard. He was older, but only by a handful of years. Just enough that he commanded an immediate respect among the youngsters. Respect, and on Evans’s part, a wholehearted and downright embarrassing admiration.
