Two of the trio drug the third quickly away and Asra watched them go, lip curled, teeth bared, gaze latched till they were fully out of range.
With a dull turn of his sleepy eyes, the Lasati boy’s gaze followed the trio until the crowd on the street nearly blotted Asra out. They didn’t really have places in Phoss that looked like this. He marveled at the newness of it all.
“You’re famous,” Fane said, legs just shy of matching Asra’s longer stride.
“They’re limp shit,” Asra corrected when he looked at Fane. Were his glances at Fane colored by his time with Faro? Maybe. It was clear to him, however, that the two boys were separate animals, different monsters entirely. He thought, maybe, he wanted to consume this boy, wanted to claim the body and everyone inside; pale matryoshka and his coparasitic sabotage. “They don’t gotta know me to be afraid of me.”
