  Summary

  william remembers the day his father tried to teach him how to swim by throwing him in a lake. the helplessness he felt is not unlike the helplessness maxwell feels now, menaced by waves of shadows.
  charlie plans on coming over to grab his suit to make sure their costumes are nice and clean in time for their last show. that turns out to be the least of her concerns.
