From this rift, colossal sea monsters, who would later be called Kaiju, emerged.
The first to appear was a massive, 300 ft Kaiju known as "Trespasser." Trespasser not only attacked and nearly destroyed San Francisco, it also caused extensive damage to coastal cities for miles. Including Ava's home.
As Kaiju began to appear in increasing frequency, Dr. Jillian Salvius and Kristian Schaefer created the Jaegers and their neural interface. This technology was quickly employed by The Pan Pacific Defense Corps (abbreviated PPDC).
