It was a strange thing for a daughter of one’s enemy to appear on their doorstep in the middle of the night. It was a stranger thing for them to show up without guard or announcement, dressed in richness but not the colors of her house, and beg for her noble father not to be told. Maedhros truly wished she had not.

Morgoth gets to Beren before Thingol can, and Lúthien refuses to stand for it. Before she can do that, though, she needs help. There are exactly three elves (and two maia) that she thinks to go in this situation.

Entrusted in the keeping of King Elessar Telcontar by Lord Elrond Peredhel at the turning of the Ages (FO 1.), these elven relics were kept and preserved as per Lord Elrond Peredhel’s last will made upon the shores of Middle-earth (Royal Archive, sect. 15, E.01.). As outlined by said will, the Elrond Peredhel Collection was to be held within the King’s Storage Houses for the minimum of 2000 years, and the maximum of an additional century, or if within that timeframe should such an event come to pass that an elf of black hair and shining silver eyes with a hand possessing a burn scar, and may possibly give any combination of the names: Kanafinwë, Makalaurë, Maglor, or Fëanorion, should he seek out the Collection, any and all items of his choosing must be released into his care.

He was seated upon his royal throne at the head of the table in the great marble hall where diplomatic meetings were held since the reign of Finwë. “Finrod would never have betrayed Amarië, Artanis only had one child and she wouldn’t lie about that, neither would Angrod or my grandson. As for my other boy, we know that he had lost his heart to one that passed on, leaving no children. Besides, his hair is too dark.”
“Irissë only had Lómion, thank Eru that man hadn’t defiled her further.” Fingolfin spoke, thoughtfully holding his chin. “Elenwë passed on the Grinding Ice, and as fond as he is of my mother, Turgon vowed to never take another bride. He cannot be his. My dearest little Argon died before he ever wed. That leaves Fingon, but, of course, he was never wed.”
