Summary
Lance tipped his head back and looked up at the tall ceiling of the ballroom. It was something he couldn’t help but do now that he was an experienced sniper. He followed the line of two pillars up and up, past the balcony and into the rafters. There—that was the best spot. You’d be able to see everything from there: the ballroom floor, the balcony, even the entryway all the way to the main doors.
He wasn’t expecting to see something shift though, and he watched in horror as a masked and cloaked figure appeared, lining up a rifle and pointing down into the crowd of people on the ballroom floor.
Or: A diplomatic gala takes an unexpected turn when Lance intercepts an assassination attempt on one of their allies. Leaving Lance injured and the others scrambling for answers, they enter a race against the clock to find who is responsible. They don’t know who did it, no one’s coming forward, and Lance is running out of time.

“What are you doing?” Keith cried. “Run!”
But Lance just looked at Keith and shook his head, they both knew he wouldn’t be able to outrun the guards with his leg wound. A fond look formed on Lance’s face as he drank in the prince probably for the last time.That stupid fond look remained on Lance’s face even as the guards tackled him from all sides.
“No!” Keith cried, but General Lotor held him back. “Let him go, please, let him go!”
“I can’t my prince,” the general whispered in his ear, “he is accused of high treason.”
“It’s okay Keith.” Lance said calmly as the guards hauled him away.
Keith helplessly watched as they took Lance away from him. That idiot knew exactly what he was doing when he saved Keith’s life, he knew he would get caught and he knew they would probably kill him, and he saved Keith anyway.
Keith hated him for it. Keith loved him for it.OR

( This was all inspired by the book Sorcery and Small Magics by Maiga Doocy! I read that book and was immediately hooked! The dynamic reminded me so much of Lance and Keith with the rivalry I NEEDED to write a fic with this concept inspired by it)

Another scrap of parchment shot out of the cup, a fourth scrap of parchment, which made no sense at all, and the Headmaster grabbed it from the air, unrolling it and reading it quietly.
The entirety of the Great Hall remained silent. It was as quiet as a tomb.
“Lance Álvarez?” The Headmaster whispered, and then again, louder. “Lance Álvarez.”

// Lance and Keith have always been battling it out: on the Quidditch field, in the duelling club, for the best marks in Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Keith always manages to come out in the lead.

"As if it could be difficult to find a replacement. You've heard Allura, the Blue Lion is the friendlier one. We could take a random guy from the space mall and he would pilot it even better!"
(Just when Lance has decided to confess his feelings to Keith, he overhears a conversation between the red paladin and Shiro. But it's okay, he can pretend nothing happened! Too bad they have to go on missions together, and Keith is starting to suspect something.)

Gostaria que tivesse acabado sem que eles se resolvessem ou sinal de que pudessem se resolver. Keith foi um babaca e feriu os sentimentos de Lance, além de trair sua amizade. Ele teve muitas oportunidades de aprender sobre Lance, mas agora, só por que o cara quase morreu salvando sua vida, Keith prefere aprender tudo isso por outra pessoa para tentar concertar esse vínculo que eles tinham.
Como Hunk disse, não tem como concertar algo que nunca existiu, e nem em um milhão de anos eu ajudaria um babaca que fingiu ser amigo de quem considero praticamente meu irmão, só para se mostrar um falso.
Shiro percebeu que talvez Lance e Hunk soubessem da conversa que rolou, mas isso não foi desenvolvido, e ele muito menos conversou com Keith sobre essa situação.

Lance ends up throwing himself and his fellow paladins of Voltron into a Altean tradition for "starmates", essentially sending them on a tour of Lance's parallel lives throughout the universe. Lance learns a lot about not only his own feelings but that he should be more grateful sometimes, because holy shit some of his lives sure are shitty. I mean they have to be shitty if he's in love with Keith in almost every one... right? Right?

The shouts were defeated by Lance's crow of laughter. He pulled Keith to him, as if he were about to dip him in a tango. Keith's own wild grin came into focus before he melted away, body shifting to a long smooth black handle.
Lance shifted the pole to the other hand, twisting it as a baton twirler would. "Oh, this is going to be awesome."

On the other end, a young boy is born who can be sent to altea for one reason—kill the prince. That’s Keith obviously.
