Zničení chrámu bohyně Veely a jeho pohlcení Zemí stínů však zahájilo novou kapitolu nenávisti, která se zakořenila ještě hlouběji.
V centru této války stál Anglael, mladý elf s ideály, které mu vynesly nezměrnou slávu. Jeho hledání rovnováhy mezi národy však v očích mnoha znamenalo nejen naději, ale i hrozbu. Nakonec, po dlouhých a krvavých bojích, byla podepsána Mírová smlouva, která sice otevřela cestu k dialogu mezi bývalými nepřáteli, ale nikdy nebyla úplně stabilní.

Recently defected from the Imperial Army, she runs into the exact people she wants to avoid: the recently-announced-dead prince/heir of Lucis and his retinue, in hiding from the Empire while driving around the countryside. Despite her training and attempts to keep them at arm's length, she finds herself dragged into their circle, where she begins to remember that, once upon a time, she wasn't the perfect soldier.
