Summary
The door was so close, so so close.
Edwin simply had to reach out and he could get his hand on the knob, he pictured the office, thinking of their office. Charles and Crystal had already made their way through so he needn't worry too hard, which was quite convenient for him.
He was almost home.
A sharp, burning pain in his stomach interrupted his hopeful internal monologue.
Edwin stopped in his tracks, rigid and jarringly aware of his own mass. He had been struck— no impaled, by an iron sword.
As if sensing his peril, Charles peeked through the door, only surfacing enough that Edwin could see up to his shoulders. "Edwin, mate what are you—" The words died on Charles' lips, eyes wide and face pale.
Ironically, most people would say he looked as if he had seen a ghost.
