Bucky’s eyes are shut so tight it hurts. It’s like he’s outside his body as he moves down. He’s bare and face down on a bed, fists tight as his body moves back and forth through it. He hardly even notices as he starts hyperventilating and trembling. He sobs in relief as Steve finally pulls away, but his whole body flinches as Steve turns him over. Half of him is here, in Steve’s apartment. The other half is gone, somewhere in Russia on a cold warehouse floor as a belt snaps shut above him. The sheets under him shift into concrete. Steve’s confusion and horror turns into the snarl of his handler. Bucky claws for a pillow and clutches it to his chest, like it can somehow hide him enough to give him seven decades of stolen dignity back.

A rewrite of a fic published in 2021. Some things will be the same, some will change, which is why I deleted the old one and am now posting a new one.
This will follow the events of Captain America: Birth of the Winter Soldier and the A(BO)vengers. However, it is not necessary to have read other parts of the two series, but it may help to read Captain America: The Birth of the Winter Soldier for minor details that were covered. :)

The brilliant Spider-Man is back in business! Or sorta, for the matter. Peter Parker remains unknown to everyone. Sure, he made new friends, got a day job and was surviving, but he hasn't made himself much known yet. He didn’t make Peter Parker known yet—not enough for the matter.
Overall, he still grieved in silence. He still grieved alone. He was alone, in a sense. Despite having friends, he barely talked to them. They’d invite him to go out but he often declined. It was either he was too busy, too tired, or just not in the mood. Some call it depression. Hell, it probably was.
Now, he was still the vigilante in the red and blue suit, but his day job slowed him down a considerable amount. He did really need the money—he was barely surviving in this economy alone. Being Spider-Man had just become a whole lot more difficult. That’s why he stopped for a few months in the first place, because he needed to get back on his feet.
You would be surprised to know his main thoughts were “What would Tony think of me now?” compared to anything else. Or maybe you wouldn't. A sad thing, truly.
