She existed only for summers in the valley, and the other three seasons spent in the city could be balmed with the memories she collected of her time spent in the sun with her grandpa, with her friends. Except one day, that reprieve is taken from her. And by the time she finally returns to the valley again, she'd long since used up her reserves.
Sebastian knew Dahlia was his constant. As a child, it was no small thing to have her join in his summer activities as if she'd never left. A day he looked forward to every year, more so than he'd ever admit. Except one day, the gap between his time spent with her stretched far too long. And he's not so sure that the girl who did finally come back is his anymore.
Dahlia returns to the valley changed, guarded, delicate. But if she were to heal anywhere, it would be there.
