Namjoon's stomach sinks as he watches the fish float on top of the water, its lifeless body moving along with the ripples. He knows if the other fisherman could see him grabbing his pail in hopes of reaching out enough to scoop the fish back up, running through the encyclopedia in his brain about fish lungs and all the things he knows could stop the inevitable, he would be the laughingstock of the village.
