The Alpha Pack was sent by the Magic Council to evaluate the Hale Pack and they had helped them out with the Darach. During their stay in Beacon Hills, Marin became Stiles' mentor and Stiles may have developed kind of a crush on Deucalion. But Stiles hasn't seen them since then.
Five years later, Stiles also works for the Magic Council and runs into them at the annual convention. The hotel is overbooked though and Stiles finds himself without a room. Until Deucalion offers to share his room.

The Alpha Pack is sent to Beacon Hills by the Magic Council of North America to see how the new Hale Alpha is doing and reunite him with Cora. Derek isn't doing well on the test the Alpha Pack puts him through and Deucalion is getting bored, until he meets someone interesting in a bookstore who catches his attention.
Stiles proves to be more than simply a good distraction from his boredom though.
