They hadn’t wanted to break up.
They really hadn’t. To the point where they clung to one another and sobbed until they ran out of tears when they finally had the conversation.
It was because of logistics. Steve never planned on leaving Hawkins; he wanted to marry here at home and have a bunch of kids, coach their sports teams and volunteer on the PTA. Eddie longed for the opposite. He wanted to run like hell out of Hawkins, travel across the country with his band, and find a way to get signed out in LA.
