If going through the other Auto-dweeb shows that Dreadwing lost either one of those sparklings, he was going to convince Megatron and Soundwave to brute force find them, torture their captives, and take Dreadwing back by force.
Megatron would sign that damn truce, no matter how outrageous the demands were because despite the sire being a fragging Prime, the sparklings would be seekers. And seekers take care of their own.
