Summary
Alex, inexplicably, thinks of a young Henry. A Henry banging on his mother’s door, begging for a scrap of her attention. A Henry floundering in his own grief and his own loneliness, sinking into his mind because there’s nowhere else to go. A Henry thinking he’s never going to be good enough because if he was good enough the people who love him wouldn’t leave.
It makes Alex angry, and then it makes him sad. Alex thinks that maybe him and Henry aren’t that different. Maybe they’re both just trying to patch up wounds left by people meant to love them unconditionally. Maybe they’re both just young lost boys desperately seeking a do-over.

Eddie swallows and flexes his hand. “Yeah, i-it’s hard to explain, but it’s bad. It’s not… always. It’s gotten better, and if I’m concentrating, usually I can keep it from—but then if it lasts too long, or if I get distracted or startled… it’s just better if there’s no touching.”
“You know,” Buck tries, all easy, “I am pretty good at getting hurt.”

Summary
A year ago at that bachelor party, so drunk he was draped across Buck’s lap with his nose buried in all the intoxicating silky heat beneath the notch of Buck’s jaw, Eddie asked Buck what he smelled like to him.
It’s not a question you’re supposed to ask, but Eddie forgets the rules sometimes. Ignores them. Things like that don’t matter between him and Buck, they never have.
He’s still not sure what he expected Buck to say. Nothing, maybe, which he assumed was the truth, Eddie’s scent faded to barely echo of what it should be. But Buck had taken Eddie’s jaw in one hand, had tipped his head back so the line of his neck was bared to Buck like an offering, had stopped to scent him with his mouth still open, had said against Eddie’s sweat-tacky skin, so low his voice thrummed in his chest, You’re the sweetest thing I’ve ever met.

*Buck’s heart stopped, when he stared at the screen. The remote slipped from his hand, clattering onto the coffee table, the noise ringing in his ears. The room tilted, the air sucked out of it, his pulse roaring in his ears. “That’s…” His voice came out as a whisper, barely audible, his eyes locked on the screen where grainy footage showed a smoking wreck, flames licking at a crumpled plane, emergency lights flashing in the distance. “That’s his flight…”
“Details are still coming in, but early reports indicate the Boeing 737, carrying 115 passengers and crew, experienced a catastrophic failure during its final approach. It’s not yet clear what caused it yet, more to come on that later- Emergency crews are on the scene, but there’s no word yet on survivors.”
Chimney sat up, his beer forgotten, his face paling. “Who’s flight?” He murmured but he already knew what the answer was going to be.
“Eddie’s.” Buck hissed, drawing in a sharp breath that felt like glass. “That’s Eddie’s flight.”
OR
Determined to make it home for Buck’s birthday, Eddie doesn’t realise that battling airport chaos wasn’t his only fight. When his plane crashes, he faces a fight for survival and for Buck.
