Summary
Here, and now, the two of them wander languidly through one of Piltover’s few late-night food markets, mostly set up to serve a population of students whose sleep schedule has been shifted a few hours to the left. They eat with legs tangled under the table, they walk back to Viktor’s home with fingers intertwined. They murmur amongst themselves about what to do, what to study.
Or: Guilt is a terrible, horrible thing, but at least they have each other.

She ran forward and hugged him. Viktor stiffened at the touch. Was this something they regularly did? He and the original version of Sky had certainly never embraced in such a way.
“See, Mel?” she said over her shoulder once she released him. “I told you he’d be back!”

Viktor’s words cut off with a sudden cough, strong enough that he was nearly hunched over with the force of it. He brought his right hand to his lower back and shut his eyes tightly until the fit passed.
He swallowed and straightened back up, then proceeded to continue walking as though nothing out of the ordinary had occurred.
Jayce shook off the feeling of unease and hurried to catch up.

If the line was considered what was acceptable between him and Jayce then… it was more complicated.
