Summary
Learned Zaretta is bored with her glorified clerk's work at the Bastard's Order in Widebourn. She'd much rather spend time with her best friend Kalyso and Kalyso's new baby. So would Kalyso's husband, Osja, but unfortunately he's been drawn into an obscure dispute between a local lord and his tenants. When Osja asks Zaretta to examine the property in question, she finds out there's far more to it, and its new tenants, than meets the (un-demon-aided) eye.
