    One-shot of the 'Hakoda's crew essentially adopts a very unhappy Zuko' variety that I think was first done on this site by Muffinlance in their fic 'Salvage' (which you should absolutely check out if you like this dynamic!).

    Essentially what if Zuko had somehow been taken prisoner by an earth kingdom ship, who then all succumb to an Earth kingdom specific plague, leaving only one sole survivor on the ship by the time Hakoda and his crew pass the ghostly vessel. Also kind of inspired by that opening shot of Pirates of the Caribbean and the scene where Huck and Jim explore the smuggler's ship as it is falling apart.

    Series title is an idiom from Analects of Confucius.

    1. Too Late For Regrets
      Jiāng Yànlí dies and wakes up outside Lotus Pier fifteen years before the Massacre at Nightless City.
    2. Vain Regrets of Old Age
      Wèi Huǐlí dies of old age and ends up back in her original timeline; Wèi Wúxiàn, Wēn Qíng, Wēn Níng, and Jīn Zixuān are dead, only Jiāng Chéng and Jīn Líng left living. Named Jiāng Yànlí once more, she scrambles to pick up the broken pieces of a life that seems like nothing but a trifle dream.
    3. To Regret Not Having Met Earlier
      The events of 後悔莫及 (Too Late for Regrets) as told by the young Jiāng Yànlí left behind in Lotus Pier by her older self.
