Summary
Class is in session at Beacon Academy, and Team RWBY have just started their second semester, training to protect the world of Remnant from the Creatures of Grimm. But not all is as it seems. Shadowy groups are drawing up sinister plans, and it's up to Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang to investigate before things get out of hand.
Meanwhile, on the remote planet Rubicon 3, Augmented Human C4-621—callsign 'Raven'—and Ayre witness Coral Release. But instead of symbiosis, 621 and Ayre are whisked away from Rubicon and split apart from each other against their will.
Forced to take separate paths, 621 and Ayre now find themselves on Remnant. Ayre winds up in Vale, and runs into a startled Team RWBY in the middle of a firefight. And 621 crash-lands into Mistral, where she—and her thirteen meter tall war machine—falls in with bandit leader Raven Branwen.
Between superhuman Huntsmen, the Grimm, and Remnant's eclectic inhabitants, 621 and Ayre struggle to reunite. Even as their very presence sets Remnant on a course of events that no one can predict...

Summary
Years after the war with Salem ended with unceremonious victory, the world has begun to heal. But in the midst of it, some feel lost. Even though it's only up from here, Remnant is in a grey area between prosperity and despair.
Two of those people are Weiss Schnee and Ilia Amitola.
Weiss sees Atlas rising from rubble, but knows it will take far too long until she can actually have a hand in the process. So she seeks out other paths to follow, other people to help.
Ilia is finally loose from her old life in the White Fang, and with the help of the Belladonnas, she departs from Menagerie with plans to do nothing more than wander the world.
Both of them end up in Vale, meeting each other after years since they last met and realizing something. Without the looming threat of total annihilation, they quite like how things are going. They realize they enjoy taking each day as it comes. And after their first job finishes up, both of them can't help but realize something else.
Maybe it would be nice to have someone by their side along the way.

Crimson Silver was raised in Evernight, taken in by Salem after being found missing one of her silver eyes on the night her parents were killed. Weiss Schnee failed her trial against the Arma Gigas and instead applies to join the Atlesian military. Blake Belladonna goes undercover as the human Dusk Nightshade to infiltrate Haven Academy and spy for the White Fang. Yang Branwen is the bandit princess of her mother's tribe and possesses the power of the Spring Maiden. Team WYCD arrives at Haven Academy, each member with ulterior motives -- but doubts and hopes alike work to change the course of their future, and the future of Remnant.
Or: the WYCD AU. Ruby is a servant of Salem. Weiss followed in her sister's footsteps. Blake never left the White Fang. Yang was raised by Raven as the Spring Maiden. None of Team RWBY ever made it to Beacon, yet Team RWBY still formed... albeit under different circumstances.

Obi-Wan narrowed his eyes. "Who are you?" He asked, hoping a direct question would yield answers. The old man seemed adept at side-stepping information when asked a bit more deftly. “I’ve never heard of a Master with your level of talent.”
The old man seemed surprised. “If you’ve never heard of one like me, then what good would my name be? You wouldn’t know it.”
Obi-Wan felt a flare of irritation, and quickly squashed it. The old man blinked, as if he hadn’t expected to feel that, and he smiled, sadly. “My name is Luke,” he said, as if a peace offering.
The force trilled in his ear, and Obi-Wan frowned. "Luke what?" He asked, and the old man, this Luke, smiled wryly.
"Luke Skywalker.”
