He was glad that Will Solace had found someone as bright as him, someone as kind and as generous. He was genuinely glad that his not-quite-friend had someone like Monique to lean into. They deserved each other, Nico repeated to himself, despite the way that thought punched the air out of Nico's lungs. He couldn't hold it against them. He couldn't hate Monique for being perfect for Will Solace, just like he could not be bitter towards Annabeth for being perfect for Percy.

The Isle of the Lost was never home, they know that for sure. However, how is Auradon supposed to deserve that word either, after all Auradonians did to them, after all the ways the Isle broke them? It's time for King Ben's decreete to get carried on with, time for the villain children to come out of the Isle and though it's easy to see Auradon is not prepared for them, Mal is convinced that neither are the children prepared for Auradon. She wants to help as much as anyone else, but will she be able to do so? How can she know she's doing the right thing? And, more importantly, will she be able to put back what the Isle shattered and Auradon didn't care enough about?

There’s a steadiness to Geralt that centers Jaskier, a sturdiness and a patience that resonates with Jaskier’s energy like two tuning forks suddenly chiming in sync. He fits with Geralt, in a way that Jaskier has never fit anywhere.
And for all that Geralt may occasionally tell him to shut up or may roll his eyes or may urge Roach farther up the road to get some distance, Jaskier can be himself around the witcher. Jaskier chatters and sings and composes out loud and flirts and jokes, and Geralt takes it all in stride.
He may not always like what Jaskier does, but he never seems to expect Jaskier to be anything other than what he is.
It’s addicting, that sort of acceptance.
With each year, he grows more and more terrified of losing it.

“I need you to avenge me,” Jaskier said.
“What?” said Geralt. He pressed the cloth back over Jaskier’s nose.
“Hey!” Batting him away Jaskier grabbed at his wrist. “I mean it! I need you to find that man, and break his fucking nose!”
“Yeah, I’m,” said Geralt, prying his arm out of Jaskier’s grip, “not doing that.”
Jaskier gets his nose broken and learns nothing. Geralt gets exasperated.
