Summary
It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that a single man should never mess with the water in Gotham. It is not only discolored by years of pollutants, but it smells like someone microwaved a dead fish covered in mold. This widespread problem of nasty water has led the plumbers and water treatment workers of Gotham to be considered miracle workers, making the running water in most of the city safe enough to use, and even drink if one is desperate enough. Unfortunately for vigilantes, the rogues of Gotham love to mess with the water supply, meaning they must investigate both the filtered and unfiltered sides of the system.

She quickly signed a thank you, before getting up from her cross-legged position on the floor. Bernard’s deskmate, dressed in a glittering black leotard and nothing else, rolled her eyes without lifting her eyeliner pen from her cheekbone. She must have sensed more than seen Bernard’s nervousness, because she leaned over, tilting her hand elegantly to hide her mouth.
“Don’t pay attention,” she says huskily. Unlike the others, she has already slipped from her man’s light tenor into her woman’s throaty, deep alto. “Dolly queens think they own the music. Do what you want, honey.”
“Maybe I should stick to ABBA,” Bernard says back. He doesn’t want to overstay his welcome on only his third night here. He has literally nowhere else to go.
The awakening Bernard experiences in the cult does not cause him to reach out to Tim. Instead, he gets really into drag. Somehow Tim gets involved anyway.
